Whilst we recommend you have a service and maintenance contract with us so we can keep your compactors running, there are steps you can take to maintain your machinery on a daily and weekly basis to ensure it continues to work smoothly and at optimum efficiency.
Get the right equipment for the job
First of all, make sure that you’ve got the right compactor for your needs. If you produce a lot of waste on a daily basis, you’re obviously going to need a larger, sturdier piece of equipment than a company that produces a lot less.
Use it properly
Make sure you train everyone in the proper use of the equipment to increase the likelihood that it will work well whenever they need it. Improper use could lead to stoppages and the need for repairs which will not only hold things up but will also cost money.
Keep an eye on the oil
Just like your car, you need to keep an eye on the oil levels of the hydraulic system and top it up if it’s getting low. Ask us to show you how to do this.
Keep it clean
As with any machinery, keeping it clear of debris and dirt will ensure your baler or compactor will continue to work smoothly. Pay special attention to the area around the power unit free of dust, dirt and debris to allow good airflow around the unit. Set up a weekly cleaning schedule so you know it will be done and who’s responsible for doing it.
Lubricate
On a monthly basis, oil the door hinges and lock assembly.
Service your compactor regularly
By getting our engineers to service your equipment on a regular basis, we’ll help your equipment work well for years to come. They will spot potential issues and be able to nip them in the bud before they become a problem and interrupt the day-to-day efficiency of your business.
